Review: Manashi is the collection of 12 Bengali short story written by shila majumder. This stories are the mirror of our society and our times.

All the stories are telling about the bengali life style, about society and our culture.

All the characters of these stories are the people scattered around us. They can be our friends, our relatives, our neighbors and the situation mention in the book are the regular events of their life.

One of the most beautiful story of this book is “Aloi fera”. This is the story about the superstitions present in the mind of the people living in our society.

It is about a young girl who love to go to school and play with her friends. Suddenly she suffer from disease and having fainting spells. The superstitious people around her including her parents thought that she is possessed by goddess and the little girl is physically and emotionally sick that her parents can’t understand because they are also superstitious.

It is a beautiful story about unfound religious practice of rural areas which is prevalent in rural areas till now.

By reading this story the reader will understand the pain of the little girl and involvement of superstitions society for her pain and they will amuse at the choice that she make in the end.
